You Live & You Learn

Our extended weekend trip was very educational - we walked away with a new outlook, among many other things.

.)  We have decided that it is best, when flying into Orlando in the evening to stay at an airport hotel.  You are just absolutely beat by the time you arrive and it is so much easier to begin relaxing.
.)  We really love the EPCOT resort area, particularly since we spend most of our time at EPCOT.  We were literally a five minute walk from all of the action and it was so nice not to worry about transportation.
.)  Regardless of how much money you spend, you are still going to have some not-so-magical moments.  Sometimes it's better to just forget about it.
.)  Get out of bed when you feel like it, and don't make plans.  (Especially when you are frequent fliers, like us.)  Take your time and enjoy your time there.  We spent the morning at EPCOT and came back to the resort in the afternoon to relax.
.)  No matter how hard you try, a trip to Disney will never be completely stress-free.  Yes, you may arrive and forget about everything that worries you but it doesn't last forever.  Regardless of what you are doing something will get on your nerves - bad service, a funky smell, foreign tourists, crowds and even screaming children.
.)  We thought it would be a good idea to check out of The Beach Club and go back to the airport hotel the day before our flight.  In some ways it was good, but we would have much rather spent the extra money to stay on-site and relaxed.  Plus, you can catch the Magical Express for free!
.)  You can attempt to budget all you want, but you always end up spending more money than anticipated.
.)  Food & Wine Festival was nice, but it wasn't really anything to write home about.  I'm glad we went, but it's very expensive.
.)  Make sure to pack Immodium, Pepto Bismol and Gax-X.  When you eat that much food it's almost a given that your stomach is going to play some sort of tricks on you.
.)  Always pack an extra pair of jogging shorts.  With the cool weather we didn't anticipate the need for shorts, but I wish I had packed some for lounging around the room.
.)  Take a good book and relax by the pool.
.)  Pack an extra bag or be prepared to ship stuff home.  Between dirty clothes and all of the miscellaneous items that you pick up during your trip it is always harder to pack it all up.
.)  If you like cocktails, bring your own alcohol.  It's expensive to drink in the Disney area.
.)  Benedryl...you never know when you're going to need it.
.) We have decided that in the future we will stay at a resort based on which parks we plan on spending the majority of our time.  Transportation in Disney can be hit or miss, so if you're planning on going to all of the parks your best bet is to have your own transportation.

As I mentioned before, we had a great time and can't wait to go back again.  Unfortunately, it will probably be awhile before we go again as our Annual Passes expire in February though I'm hoping on to hope that we will make it back for an anniversary trip in the spring.
