ROAD trip!

On Thursday afternoon, Chad & I packed up the pick-up and hit the road.  As you can imagine, we had quite the packed truck - between luggage, gifts, litter boxes, dog cage (with dog) and cat bag (with cat)...it was a good time.
We had reservations in Texarkana, Texas that night and drove all over trying to find somewhere to get dinner - we were very excited when we found a McAllister's Deli and Chad had to cross the state line to get some alcohol.  Apparently, the don't sell alcohol in Texarkana, TX.  The drive was pretty uneventful, though we did get stuck in traffic before we even got out of Houston.  Cappy spent about an hour whining and crying and every once in awhile William would cry out.  Our hotel room was louder than we would have liked, but I think we were both so tired we really didn't notice.  Our room had two queen beds which allowed us to spread out some.  Cappy couldn't figure out why we were in different beds and jumped back and forth between the beds for awhile.  He also started "digging" the mattress I was sleeping on (I don't even want to know why) and it was the funniest thing ever - we've never witnessed him digging, so it was a sight to see.  Of course, I was the one with the full bed - I had both boys with me all night long.
We had every intention in the world of being on the road by 7am on Friday, but it just wasn't working for either of us.  Right around 8am we were on the road.  We stopped at a truck stop in Little Rock where Chad bought a book on tape (CD) to see if that helped the trip go by faster.  Not long after that I fell asleep for awhile and by the time I woke up we were past Memphis.  After a quick stop at Wendy's we were back on the road again.  The remainder of the trip pretty much flew by.  We stopped at the first rest stop in Illinois and let Cappy go potty and he sat on my lap the rest of the trip.  I called Mom & Dad when we hit Lenhart and Mom was shocked that we were there already.  I took Cappy inside while Daddy, Chad & Chase unloaded the truck - it felt SO good to be home.  I just wish that we lived closer.
We were treated to Vic's Pizza for dinner and it was absolutely amazing.  You can't get pizza like that in Texas.  We did have a few funny moments that night.  Mom went to bed and we were all trying to watch a DVD.  Unable to find the remote, Chad & Chase went on a scavenger hunt.  The highlight of the evening was when Chad walked into Mom's room and said, "What'd you do with that stuff you moved from the living room?"  Mom's reply was "I dunno."  Then Chad says, "What the hell is that on your face?  Are you dying?"  Highlight of the night...and, they found the remote in their room.  Since the scavenger hunt took longer than anticipated, we ended up going to bed without watching any of the DVD.
