Celery, Physicals and Specialists...Oh my!!!!

This past week has certainly been an interesting one.  On Sunday or Monday, I received a Facebook friend request from a friend from way back when.  We were friends because we were the same age and she lived behind my aunt, just two doors down from me, as a child.  Jennifer actually moved from our neighborhood to out of state in either the first or second grade and we completely lost touch.  I remember her younger sister, Amy, and that her mom had another girl, though I don't remember her name.  I was shocked that she found me on Facebook, given my last name change and all.  But, the most ironic thing is that she lives in Stafford, Texas which isn't too far from me in Pearland.  We've talked back and forth all week and will be meeting up tomorrow for lunch.  I am so excited that I will finally know somebody near me!!!! :-)  I know Chad is excited, too, because he knows just how bored I have been.  I cannot wait to catch up with Jennifer tomorrow!!!!

Last Friday, Chad and I were both home sick.  We rushed around to find a doctor who could see us, as I suspected that we both had strep throat.  The doctor we had scheduled physicals with was out of the office on Friday, so I ended up getting us in with a doc at Memorial Hermann named Dr. Jain.  Although the office itself was kind of ghetto, he was great.  We decided after our appointment that if, for some reason, we didn't like the doctor we had chosen at Methodist, we would make Dr. Jain our PCP.  Our rapid tests came back negative, but he was certain we both had strep, so he gave us antibiotics and sent us home to rest.

Afterwards, we went to lunch at Five Guys, which I had never had before, and I can honestly say, it was the BEST burger I have ever had in my life.  The french fries with vinegar were delicious as well and reminded me of Culler's french fries at the State Fair.  Delicious!!!!

On Saturday, we spent the day unpacking and finished everything in the house with the exception of the living room.  It feels so good to be living in a house free of boxes.  On Sunday, we went to the Houston Premium Outlets and definitely over-did it.  We both felt like crap that afternoon, and rested the remainder of the day.  We were finished at the outlet mall within an hour and a half, which is record time for us!

Monday evening we got in a huge fight regarding a bill from my doctor in Springfield, so I was dreading our physicals on Tuesday morning.  I was nervous, because the paperwork his company sent us said a PAP smear was required, and I had planned on keeping my OB/GYN in Springfield.  I've been seeing her for over 11 years now, had had absolutely no intentions of switching, as I have built a wonderful relationship with her.  I begged and pleaded with Dr. Yana to forgo the PAP smear, but she insisted.  Ugh!  So, I dealt with it...and she found that I have a cervical polyp and insisted that I see a doctor in the Houston area for that, as the polyp may require surgery.  I was so depressed after the appointment, and Chad could tell immediately. So, he took me to Chick-fil-a for lunch and discussed everything with me.  I called and made an appointment with the specialist that she highly recommended that afternoon, I will be seeing him on Wednesday.   They said they could get me in today, but with Chad out of town, I didn't want to go without him.  It's a huge deal to see somebody who is not Dr. Sweetland, and I'm absolutely terrified.

Yesterday, Chad left for Kansas City and I have been stuck in this darned apartment, staring at the crown molding and having conversations with William.  I am going absolutely crazy.

Basically, I'm looking forward to meeting up with Jen tomorrow and anxiously awaiting Chad's arrival home.  Since Chad will be spending a weekend on Lake Texoma with Tom and Mike next month, my Mom will be coming to visit.  I cannot wait to show her around Texas, she will never want to go back to Illinois.  I'm also anxiously awaiting phone calls about job interviews, as I'm definitely going crazy being unemployed.  Chad's three-day weekend should be nice as well, although I have a continual weekend.  LOL.  We're hoping to go to Galveston/Kemah this weekend and start looking at some houses.  I'm nervous about my doctor's appointment on Wednesday, but I will survive.  And I know that with Chad there by my side, we can get through anything! :-)
